The project is being implemented by the Department of Prisons and the Public Works Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs, with an estimated cost of BDT 250.32 crore. Key objectives include strengthening prison security, improving staff accommodation, and supporting inmate rehabilitation through modern correctional facilities and training programs. The project is classified as a Red Category project under the Environment Conservation Rules, 2023 and is scheduled for implementation from July 2025 to June 2026.
