Initial Environmental Examination for Construction of Bridge over the Small Feni River under LBSP-I

The proposed project involves the construction of a bridge over the Small Feni River at 2850 m chainage on the Chargopalgaon Saudiya Mosque–Charlakshmiganj Madrasa Road in Sonagazi Upazila, Feni. The bridge aims to ensure safe, reliable, and year-round connectivity for rural communities currently dependent on boat crossings. The project will improve access to education, healthcare, markets, agricultural land, and local services. An Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) was conducted following relevant national environmental regulations and LGED guidelines. The study found that potential impacts are temporary, localized, and manageable through proper mitigation and EMP implementation. The project is environmentally acceptable and socially beneficial, subject to obtaining Environmental Clearance from the Department of Environment.
